Dedrick Craft

Dedrick survived, but his life would never be the same. He became a paraplegic.

From that day forward, everyday things that many of us never have to think twice about became obstacles Dedrick has had to face every single day. Getting around his home. Cooking a meal. Reaching a stove. Using a bathroom. Simply moving safely through a space that was never designed for someone in a wheelchair.

Dedrick is independent and does everything he can for himself, but independence becomes much harder when your home is not wheelchair accessible. He has even suffered burns while trying to cook because the stove was not positioned at a safe, accessible height for him.

His life changed in other painful ways as well. After becoming paralyzed, his marriage eventually ended in divorce. Yet Dedrick has continued moving forward, loving his sons, fighting for his independence, and doing the best he can with the life he was handed.

When I learned that Dedrick needed a wheelchair, I asked people to come together and help me raise the money to get him one, and we did.

Now I am asking for help with something even bigger.

I want to help Dedrick purchase a home that is wheelchair accessible.
