Sometimes, the people who need our help the most are the very ones who never ask for anything.
I recently encountered a woman named Miss Wanda, who has been sleeping on a bench in a shopping plaza in Appomattox, Virginia.
While many of us have a warm bed, a roof over our heads, and a place to call home, Miss Wanda is facing difficult circumstances.
What touched my heart most was her humble spirit.
Miss Wanda is not someone who readily accepts money when it is offered directly. However, I discovered that she will accept a bag of snacks and other small necessities.
By placing money inside her snack bag, I have been able to provide her with financial assistance in a way she has accepted.
Sometimes, helping someone means finding a way to give that allows them to maintain their dignity.
A Community Coming Together
After sharing a video of Miss Wanda on Facebook, something beautiful happened.
People began reaching out, asking how they could help.
Complete strangers wanted to make a difference in the life of a woman they had never met.
This is what Diverse Resolutions is all about.
We believe everyone deserves compassion, kindness, dignity, and an opportunity for a better tomorrow.
We don’t always know someone’s story. We don’t know what circumstances brought them to where they are today.
But we do know that no human being deserves to feel forgotten.

“When I see Miss Wanda sleeping on that bench, I don’t just see someone experiencing homelessness.
I see a woman.
I see someone’s daughter.
I see a human being who has a story, feelings, and a life that matters.
I don’t know what brought Miss Wanda to this place in her life, and I refuse to judge her for being there.
What I do know is that compassion costs nothing, and kindness can change someone’s entire day.
I created Diverse Resolutions because I believe that everyone deserves a helping hand, especially during the moments when life becomes overwhelming.
We may not be able to change the entire world overnight, but together, we can change someone’s world, one act of kindness at a time.
Miss Wanda deserves to know that she is seen, that she matters, and that she has not been forgotten.”
